When you use the term designated Marxman, that is not exactly what the US Army OR USMC means by that term. Since its weapons are different in caliber 308. Becouse "tireur précis" is more sniper with M110 who works on squad level. As well as designated marxman, in US Army OR USMC generaly use M38 SDMR (M38 Squad Designated Marksman rifle) which is the same rifle as M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle but with better scope. And Ofcourse FN SCAR isn't DMR it is a sniper rifle!

Someone please tell me why they switched to M320s as compared to M203s. Ergonomically speaking it makes no sense. There are no good holsters for M320s. Accuracy is a hard sell because its a grenade launcher. Leaf sights worked, and a side-mount GLS makes night-vision usage of the system in conjunction with a LRF basically idiot proof and MORE effective at night. Side opening breech only makes sense when you have longer 40mm rounds you want to use (such as a pike missile), but we don't even have pike missiles, and the combined effect of ISR assets would be better utilized for indirect fire from mortars than laser designation and firing from a pike. I've used both and people still tell me reasons that make no sense why the M320 is a better weapons platform.

The most unrealistic part of this is that there weren't thousands of civilians with guns ready to defend there homes. It's the US, guns are mainstream and people who will defend their homes to the very end, are like an endless wave of combatants.

Rangers are the most lethal and scalable direct action unit in the US military. Rangers are unique because they can conduct a special operations HVT raid with a platoon or less, clear a small town/valley with a company, seize an international airport with a battalion, and use the entire Regiment for large scale combat operations. During the GWOT, Rangers kill or captured more HVTs than any other unit including ST6 and Delta. A Ranger company held off Saddam’s Republican Guard at Haditha Dam which resulted in 400 EKIA and 30 tanks destroyed. In comparison to other SOF units, SEAL platoons and SF ODAs simply don’t have enough fire power to do most of the direct action stuff that Rangers do.

This new force concept seems to be putting a positive spin on the unfortunate decline of the UK and its military. A lack of willing, fit young people and a stagnant economy means there's less money and people for the military, that much clear. Solution: rely more on indirect fires guided by recon elements, that way we don't need maneuver elements (MBTs, IFVs, etc) to directly engage with mechanized enemy forces. Seems great initially, but has two negative implications. 1. The British Army will be incapable of operating in a near-peer conflict on its own. It can only be a contignent of a larger allied force, and one mostly relegated to the rear echelons. This is especially true in large conflict. In a conflict like the Falklands War when Britain is on its own, then it might be SOL. 2. If the enemy forces break through or circumvent the direct-engagement manuever units of Britain's allies, then Britain will have to fall back and abandon position. This would potentially make the British Army the weak link in the alliance.

Sadly Rangers school isn't what it used to be 20 years ago😂 being in Batt still means something at least. But given just the amount of weight people used to lose in school versus what they lose now it's pretty telling that it's a lot easier

The use of engineer variants is accidentally fortuitous. The modern infantry squad will be built like its WW2 German predecessor, only with large numbers of expendable drone munitions complimenting or even supplanting the machine gun as the primary firepower and maneuver facilitator for the squad. As such, the additional carrying capacity for munitions and equipment in the Boxer engineer variant is admirably suited for a modern infantry role where squad magazine depth will be as great a factor or more as the number of riflemen on the line.
